The client side of Component Enabler consists of a run-time environment, generated Ispec components and, optionally, a generated user interface. The generated Ispec components are either JavaBeans or .NET assemblies and provide access to AB Suite systems through different client applications. For example, custom Java and .NET applications, scripted Web pages and off the shelf applications such as Word or Excel. The Component Enabler Runtime interface can run on both workstation and server machines that support either the Java or the .NET platform.

The Component Enabler code can be installed directly on user workstations or deployed from Web servers or File servers.

Component Enabler clients establish sessions with host applications through Remote Access Servers. Depending on the choice of Component Enabler connection mode, applications can see Component Enabler clients as -
