UNIX, Linux, and Other ANSI X3.64-Connected Systems

To monitor UNIX or Linux systems, you must install the UNIX/Linux Resource Monitor on each UNIX or Linux system.

Operations Sentinel Console provides display of console windows, terminal emulation sessions, and system automation for UNIX and Linux systems.

Operations Sentinel provides a number of data gathering and system management capabilities for UNIX and Linux systems.

You can use SP-AMS (see “Single Point Autoaction Message System [MCP, UNIX]”) to match UNIX and Linux console messages and take automated actions based on those messages. These actions include raising Operations Sentinel alerts and sending commands back to the managed system. A starter SP-AMS database is provided for this purpose.

The Event Server API allows you to develop your own applications for collecting data on each managed UNIX and Linux system and sending this information to the Operations Sentinel server. These applications can also monitor and act on information sent to Operations Sentinel from other sources. See the Operations Sentinel Event Server Application Program Interface Programming Guide for more information.
