The Operations Sentinel agents collect operations-related information from the systems where they are installed and pass this information to one or more Operations Sentinel servers over the LAN. An agent is installed on each MCP, UNIX and Linux, and Windows system and partition that is to be managed and is different for each type of system. OS 2200 consoles in a ClearPath Dorado Enterprise System are an integral part of Operations Sentinel and do not require the installation of any agent.
Windows Resource Monitor (WRM)
A new Windows monitoring agent is provided beginning with Operations Sentinel level 11.0. This agent, called Windows Resource Monitor (WRM) replaces the agent referred to as the "Windows agent" in previous releases. WRM monitors resources following a user-defined policy for which it sends alert event reports to Operations Sentinel alert services. WRM can monitor Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2. It can also monitor the following entities:
Disk drives
Services
Desktop applications
CPU utilization
Physical memory
Event logs
In addition, the WRM supports open-ended resource monitoring provided by user-defined scripts.
The remote desktop of each Windows system is available on an Operations Sentinel workstation through Remote Desktop Connection.
UNIX/Linux Resource Monitor
Beginning with level 11.0, Operations Sentinel provides new UNIX and Linux monitoring agents. These agents, collectively referred to as the UNIX/Linux Resource Monitor (ULRM), replace the URM agent in previous releases. The UNIX/Linux Resource Monitor monitors hardware and software resources following a user-defined policy for which it sends alert event reports to Operations Sentinel alert services. The UNIX/Linux Resource Monitor monitors the following entities:
File systems
Critical processes
Long-running processes
CPU utilization
Physical memory
Log files
In addition, the UNIX/Linux Resource Monitor supports open-ended resource monitoring provided by user-defined scripts.
A console window for each UNIX and Linux system is available on each Operations Sentinel workstation.
