Use the details pane to enter or change values for individual properties. Depending on the property you want to edit, you use one of the following controls to enter or edit property values.
Text box
If the field is a text box, you can type information directly in the details pane. Click in the value field on the right and type the new text or modify any existing text.
Dialog box (ellipsis button)
You might
also find an ellipsis () in the
value field. Click the ellipsis icon
and a dialog box appears that allows you to enter information. The
changes you make in the dialog box become visible in the details pane
once you close the dialog box. Sometimes you must click the plus sign
(+) next to the property name to expand the property and view the
changes you made.
List (down arrow button)
In other instances,
you might find an arrow () in the value field. Click the arrow icon to choose a value, such
as True or False.
Pending Changes
Any change you make appears in bold and stays bolded until you save your pending changes. If you have pending changes, you can discard them to reset all pending changes back to the previously saved values. Anything you have added is removed and anything that you have deleted is restored.
Read-only Information
The details pane might also contain read-only information. Read-only information appears in dimmed text so you are aware that you cannot modify this information.
Tip: You can display and change the common properties of multiple items in the details pane by selecting more than one item in the display pane. This saves time if you need to make the same change to a property for multiple items.
