A topology is a graphical display of the managed objects in the open zone. Operations Sentinel Console automatically creates a topology that includes one image for each managed object in the selected view, along with the appropriate connection lines. You use topologies to monitor connection and alert states. You can view a topology display for every view in the open zone.
A topology contains images that represent
Managed systems and partitions.
Components of systems, such as disks, tapes, printers, and so on.
OS 2200 consoles.
Notes:
Since Operations Sentinel does not directly monitor arbitrary systems through a system or console connection, a topology does not show a connection line around the object.
Color coding represents normal conditions, alert conditions, and systems that are not communicating with the Operations Sentinel server.
An Operations Sentinel administrator defines topologies in Administration mode. This includes setting the default action, name, and image associated with each object.
