The command line is the area you use to supply input to the OS 2200 partition. You can enter either an unsolicited Exec keyin or a response to a read-and-reply message as a command. Each command you enter is saved and stored in a command history list. You can use the command history list to resend commands to the system.
Note: The command only accepts ACSII text.
To manually type a command in the command line
Position the cursor in the command line.
Using the keyboard, type the command. Press Enter. OS 2200 Console View sends the command to the OS 2200 partition.
To copy and paste text
Using the mouse, highlight the desired text in any console pane or in another application.
Right-click and click Copy from the shortcut menu.
Position the cursor in the command line. Right-click and select Paste from the shortcut menu.
Edit the text you pasted into the command line, if needed, and press Enter. OS 2200 Console View sends the command to the OS 2200 partition.
To select a command from the history list
Click the arrow on the right side of the command line to display the history list.
Click the command from the list you want to execute. OS 2200 Console View places that command on the command line.
Press Enter to execute the command.
Notes:
The command line is the home position for the cursor. Each time you start OS 2200 Console View, the cursor returns to the command line.
You cannot enter commands from the command line until the console is active (Up).
You can paste any text from the clipboard to the command line but only the first 70 characters are sent to the OS 2200 partition.
When a message pane has focus and the view reaches either the time or message buffer limit for the pane, the cursor returns to the command line and message delivery to the pane resumes.
