Security for a logical console is defined on the Operations Sentinel server that hosts it. When you open a view to a logical console, the Operations Server checks its local Windows user groups to see what privileges you have. Depending on the Windows security group you are in, the server grants you one of the following:
Full access to the logical console.
Read-only access. You can view console messages but you cannot interact with the OS 2200 partition or logical console. See Read-Only Restrictions for more information.
No access. See your site administrator to obtain correct privileges on the server.
Note: Console access security cannot be enforced across firewalls that are configured to block network traffic to ports 139 and 445.
Views and Microsoft Windows Security Group
By default, anyone using OS 2200 Console View can access all logical consoles. If your site has implemented Microsoft Windows security groups for each OS 2200 console, your administrator must add you to either of these security groups
system-name.partition-name.console-name.VIEWFULL
A member of this group can open a view to the logical console identified by the name of the security group and interact with the OS 2200 partition.
system-name.partition-name.console-name.VIEWREAD
A member of this group has read-only access to the logical console identified by the name of the security group.
For security reasons, OS 2200 Console View does not allow you to change the connection attributes or change to a view associated with a different console if you started Console View using one of the following methods:
The Windows Start menu or a shortcut that includes the system, partition, and console options, or the view option
