Connecting to External Alert Notification Devices

Operations Sentinel can use external devices to perform actions when an alert is raised, acknowledged, or cleared. Following are examples of external devices:

Pagers accessible through modems and paging services
Arbitrary serial devices used to control power switches, bells, and so forth

These devices connect to an Operations Sentinel server through a terminal/communications server in the same way as managed systems. You can also connect RS-232 devices or modems directly to the Operations Sentinel server.
