Connection Options

Managed ANSI X3.64 systems can connect to an Operations Sentinel server in one of the following ways:

TELNET connection
Secure Shell connection
Network accessibility using ping monitoring

You can make multiple connections to a single system. These connections can be of the same type or of different types. Each connection is represented in Operations Sentinel as a separate system, even though each might connect to the same monitored system.

Note: There is nothing gained by having a managed system with multiple ping connections, as each connection reports identical information.
