Configuring the Server System Software

This subsection describes configuration changes to the system software on the Operations Sentinel server.

Before configuring the software, configure your hardware. Then proceed with the following changes:

Specify the port numbers and protocols.
Disable ports using pmadm or sysadm (direct connection only).
Change the file permissions for ports (direct connection only).
Update the system start-up script.
Define the terminal/communications or ATS/NAS server network name and IP address in the systems file (SystemFolder\drivers\etc\hosts), name server (DNS), or WINS server.
Define the connection using Administration mode of Operations Sentinel Console.
