TELNET connections require a TCP/IP capable network connection to the Operations Sentinel server and to each managed system.
By default, Operations Sentinel uses the name spo_telnet and associates it with port 23, which is the industry standard TELNET port. If you use port 23 for TELNET and specify spo_telnet as the Service Name for each TELNET connected system, no entry in the services file is required. If you are connecting to a TELNET server that is listening on a port other than 23, you must configure that service for use by Operations Sentinel in the file SystemFolder\drivers\etc\services on the Operations Sentinel server.
You need to
Define the connection using Administration mode in Operations Sentinel Console.
If you are managing Sun systems, create a UCI configuration file for each Sun system to be managed by Operations Sentinel that you wish to connect using a TELNET session.
Follow the description in “Configuring ANSI X3.64 Connections” for creating such a configuration file from the default configuration file (for a TELNET connection). Add the following three connection initialization parameters: INITWITH, RECOVERWITH, and ENDLINEWITH to this configuration file. Specify the keyword attribute CRNL for each of these parameters.
