Overview

Operations Sentinel is designed to run as a Windows client or server application. It is not developed with the intent of executing in the Terminal Services for Windows environment. By default, Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2 run Terminal Services. Regardless of whether your data center environment requires it, Operations Sentinel can run under control of Terminal Services with little noticeable impact, if it is configured properly. There are a number of advantages, disadvantages, and restrictions to running Operations Sentinel workstation under Terminal Services.

There is little difference between running Operations Sentinel under Terminal Services and running it directly on your workstation. You might notice the screen updates are slower, but they should still occur well within an acceptable tolerance. If they do not, then you should investigate the performance impact that Operations Sentinel under Terminal Services is having on your servers.

There is no impact to the replicated screens from ANSI X3.64/UNIX and MCP systems.
