Each time you distribute a database to an Operations Sentinel server that has an existing database with the same name, the Distribute function copies the existing database to the backup directory. This enables you to restore the old copy if needed.
You may need to restore a database if
The database file on the Operations Sentinel server is corrupt.
You intended to install a new database but received a status message indicating that an update was performed instead. (This might indicate a database naming problem at your data center.)
You determine that the patterns in the new database are not the ones you want to use and you wish to go back to the previous set of patterns.
To restore a database
Click Database Maintenance on the Tools menu (or press Ctrl+F4).
The Security Server Selection dialog box is displayed.
To maintain the databases, you must be a member of the SPO Users group on one of the servers in the list. Highlight the server on which you want Autoaction Database Manager to verify your privileges and click OK.
If you are a member of the SPO Users group on that server, theDatabase Maintenancedialog box appears.
In the System Name drop down selection list, either select an Operations Sentinel server or enter a new name. Autoaction Database Manager lists the databases that are currently installed and those that are in the backup directory.
In the Backup list, select the database you want to restore and click Restore.
Autoaction Database Manager displays status messages in the results pane. It also adds an entry to the SP-DISTRIBUTE-AMS log.
Note: While the Database Maintenance dialog box is open, the commands to build, verify, distribute, and dump a database are unavailable.
