The following messages are error messages. Processing of the current pattern stops when an error is encountered. The pattern is not entered in the database. However, processing does resume with the next pattern.

Error E0001: Unrecognized symbol 'symbol'.

A symbol (string of characters) that was not enclosed in quotation marks was found that is not a valid BADB command or parameter.

Error E0002: Invalid character in number 'number'.

A symbol whose first character is numeric contains at least one nonnumeric character.

Error E0003: Number 'number' exceeds maximum number of 32,767.

The number specified was greater than the maximum allowable of 32,767.

Error E0004: Unrecognized input 'symbol'.

A symbol was found that begins with a non-alphanumeric character that is not a quotation mark or a brace. This type of symbol is not recognized by BADB.

Error E0005: Invalid character in set {set}.

The specified set contains at least one illegal character. Note that a brace or a backslash within a set must be preceded by a backslash (for example, '\{', '\}', '\\').

Error E0006: Invalid escape (\) sequence in set {set}.

An escape character (backslash) found in the set was not immediately followed by a brace ('{' or '}') or another backslash ('\'). Braces and backslashes are the only valid escape characters in a set.

Error E0007: No closing brace (}) found.

The beginning of a set ({) was found without a matching closing brace (}).

Error E0008: Set exceeds maximum set length of length characters.

A set (excluding the braces) was specified that contained more than the maximum allowable number of characters.

Error E0009: Invalid character string "parameter".

A string or escape sequence was found that contains illegal characters. Note that a quotation mark or a backslash within a string must be preceded by a backslash (for example, '\"', '\\').

Error E0010: Non-ASCII characters in string "string".

A group or action text string was found that contains at least one non-ASCII character (>0x7F). Group-ids and action text (other than DISPLAY text) must contain only ASCII characters.

Error E0011: A string of spaces is invalid.

A string of ASCII spaces was specified as a group name or as token text for a standard pattern. Group-ids and standard pattern token text must contain at least one nonblank character.

Error E0012: A null ("") string is invalid.

A null string was specified as string text. A null string is valid only when specified as a delimiter list (meaning the pattern has no delimiters, so the entire message is a single token), as a response action to a read-and-reply message, or as supplemental display text (that is, a blank line).

Error E0013: Invalid escape (\) sequence in string "parameter".

An escape character (backslash) found was immediately followed by an unrecognized character. Valid escape sequences for strings depend on the type of string specification.

Error E0014: No closing quote (") found.

The beginning of a string was found without a matching closing quotation mark (").

Error E0015: String exceeds maximum string length of characters.

A string (excluding the quotation marks) was specified that contained more than the maximum allowable number of characters.

Error E0016: Name "name" contains embedded spaces.

Embedded spaces are not allowed in group names and variable names.

Error E0017: Group "group-name" exceeds maximum group length of 12
characters.

A group name (excluding the quotation marks and leading/trailing spaces) was specified that contained more than the maximum allowable number of characters (12).

Error E0018: No 'END' corresponding with 'DEFINE' at line.

The pattern definition beginning with DEFINE at line-# does not have a corresponding END or OMIT.

Error E0020: A 'MESSAGE' command must follow a 'DEFINE'.

The command immediately following a DEFINE command was not a MESSAGE command.

Error E0021: Redefinition of pattern "group-name" pattern-#.

Two separate patterns within the same BADB execution (option -c on the call line) define a pattern identified as group-name pattern-#.

Error E0022: Group "group-name" not created; max groups exist.

Group group-name could not be defined because the database already contains the maximum number of different groups (256).

Error E0023: More than one message type specified.

More than one message type (READ-AND-REPLY, OTHER, CONTINUOUS-DISPLAY) was specified in a TYPE command.

Error E0025: Priority ’priority1’ exceeds 
maximum priority ’priority2’.

The priority (priority1) specified in a PRIORITY command is greater than the maximum priority allowed (priority2).

Error E0026: More than one 'PRIORITY' specified.

More than one PRIORITY command was specified in a particular pattern.

Error E0027: Non-standard delimiters previously defined.

More than one DELIMITER command was specified in a particular pattern.

Error E0028: Too many delimiters specified.

The number of delimiters found in the delimiter list is greater than the number of delimiters in the message text (that is, BADB ran out of text specified in the MESSAGE command before delimiters when tokenizing the message). Examine the message text and delimiter list for correctness.

Error E0029: Type ’type’ redefines the token type.

More than one token type (keyword, fixed, masked, run-id, host-id) was specified in a TOKEN command.

Error E0030: More than one token position defined.

More than one number (token position) was specified in a TOKEN command.

Error E0031: String "string" redefines the token text.

More than one string (token text) was specified in a TOKEN command.

Error E0032: Token position undefined.

A token position was not specified in a TOKEN command of type keyword, fixed, or masked.

Error E0033: ’token-type’ token text undefined.

Token text was not specified in a TOKEN command of type token-type (run-id or host-id).

Error E0034: Token position ’pos’ greater than total token count.

The token position specified in a TOKEN command was greater than the total number of tokens in the message (as specified in the MESSAGE command).

Error E0035: More than one 'KEYWORD' token defined.

More than one keyword token was defined in a pattern. A pattern can contain one keyword token at most.

Error E0036: More than one ’token-type’ token defined.

More than one run-id or host-id token was defined in a pattern. A pattern can contain, at most, one run-id or host-id token.

Error E0037: Token position 'number' already defined.

A pattern contains two or more definitions for the token in position number.

Error E0038: Invalid escape (\) sequence for non-masked token {string}.

An escape character (backslash) found in a keyword or fixed token text string was immediately followed by character other than a quotation mark (") or backslash (\). Quotation marks and backslashes are the only characters that can be escaped in a keyword or fixed token.

Error E0039: Type 'type' redefines the action type.

More than one action type (ACTIVATE, ALARM, ANSWER, COMMAND, DEACTIVATE, DISPLAY, EVENT-REPORT, EXECUTE, HIGHLIGHT, HOLD, PASSWORD, RELEASE, RESPONSE, SUPPRESS , TCOMMAND, TEXECUTE) was specified in an ACTION command.

Error E0040: String "string" redefines the action text.

More than one string (action text) was specified in an ACTION command.

Error E0041: Action type undefined.

An action type (ACTIVATE, ALARM, ANSWER, COMMAND, DEACTIVATE, DISPLAY, EVENT-REPORT, EXECUTE, HIGHLIGHT, HOLD, RELEASE, RESPONSE, SUPPRESS, TCOMMAND, TEXECUTE) for an OS 2200 console database, or ACTIVATE, COMMAND, DEACTIVATE, DISPLAY, EVENT-REPORT, PASSWORD for a SP-AMS database) was not specified in an ACTION command.

Error E0042: Action mode undefined.

An action mode (ALL, ATTENDED, CASUAL, UNATTENDED) was not specified in an ACTION command for a CP-AMS database.

Error E0043: Action text undefined.

Action text was not specified for an ACTIVATE, ALARM, ANSWER, COMMAND, DISPLAY, EVENT-REPORT, EXECUTE, HIGHLIGHT, PASSWORD, RELEASE, RESPONSE, TCOMMAND, or TEXECUTE action.

Error E0044: More than one ’action’ action per action mode.

[CP-AMS] A pattern contains more than one action with one of the following action types: ACTIVATE/DEACTIVATE, HIGHLIGHT, HOLD, RESPONSE, or SUPPRESS for a particular operations mode.

[SP-AMS]A pattern contains more than one ACTIVATE or DEACTIVATE action or an ACTIVATE and DEACTIVATE action.

Error E0045: No tokens defined.

A pattern was defined that did not contain a TOKEN or CONSTRAINT command. Each pattern definition must include at least one token or constraint definition.

Error E0048: String "string" redefines the name.

More than one string was specified in a DEFINE or REMOVE command. Only one string (name specification) is allowed per command.

Error E0049: Number ’number’ redefines the pattern number.

More than one number was specified for a DEFINE or REMOVE command. Only one pattern number is allowed per command.

Error E0050: Group "group-name" not found.

The group specified in a REMOVE command could not be found in the database.

Error E0051: Pattern "group-name" name not found.

The pattern associated with group-name and pattern-# specified in a REMOVE command could not be found in the database.

Error E0052: Unexpected end.

where end is end-of-file when the last DEFINE command was not followed by a corresponding END command, or end-of-line when an end of line was found during an expression definition.

Error E0053: Unexpected end-of-file while skipping comment.

The end of file was found while searching for the end of a comment (that is, the last '/*' sequence did not have a corresponding '*/' sequence).

Error E0054: Unexpected set {set}.

A set definition was not expected in this context.

Error E0055: Unexpected string "string".

A string definition was not expected in this context.

Error E0056: Unexpected number ’number’.

A number was not expected in this context.

Error E0057: Unexpected symbol 'symbol'.

The symbol symbol was not expected in this context.

Error E0058: Definition name undefined.

A name was not specified in a DEFINE or REMOVE command.

Error E0059: Action text exceeds
maximum length of length characters.

The number of characters in the action text string is greater than the maximum number of characters allowed for the specified action type. Action is the action type as specified in the ACTION command and length is the maximum number of characters allowed for that action.

Substitution sequences are evaluated as follows: If the substitution inserts text of a set length, the length of that text is added to the action length; otherwise, the minimum length possible for the substituted text (one character) is added to the length of the action text.

The insertion length is assumed to be 1 for _RUNID, 1 for _HOSTID, 13 for _DT, 6 for _DAY, 8 for _RRID, and 1 for all other variables unless a partial text reference is specified. When a character position partial text reference is specified, the insertion length is calculated as end-position — start-position + 1.

Error E0060: 'RESPONSE' action specified for type 'OTHER' message.

An action of type RESPONSE was specified and the message type is not READ-AND-REPLY. A response action is valid for read-and-reply messages only.

Error E0061: Text ’text’ is an invalid alarm identifier.

An ALARM action was specified but the action text contained an invalid alarm identifier. A valid alarm identifier consists of a 1- or 2-digit decimal number less than 34, or a token substitution sequence.

Error E0062: Null action specified for ’action-type’ action.

When building an SP-AMS database, a null ("") action was specified for an action other than COMMAND or PASSWORD. When building an SP-AMS database, a null action is valid only for a COMMAND or PASSWORD action.

When building a CP-AMS or SMART AMS database, a null ("") action was specified for an action type other than RESPONSE or DISPLAY. When building a CP-AMS or SMART AMS database, a null action is valid only for a DISPLAY action or a read-and-reply message RESPONSE action.

Error E0063: Standard pattern token "text" 
contains embedded spaces.

A token defined for a standard pattern (one with no DELIMITERS command) contains embedded spaces. By definition, text with embedded spaces is not a single token in a standard pattern.

Error E0064: ’token-type’ token "token-text" 
contains embedded spaces.

A run-id or host-id token contains embedded spaces. run-ids must be 1 to 6 alphanumeric characters without embedded spaces, and host-ids must be 1 to 64 alphanumeric characters and underscores without embedded spaces.

Error E0065: ’token-type’ token exceeds 
maximum length of max characters.

Either a run-id greater than 6 characters or a host-id greater than 64 characters was specified.

A run-id may contain 1 to 6 alphanumeric characters. Either an unmasked run-id contains more than 6 characters or the calculated maximum width of a masked run-id token was greater than 6.

A host-id may contain 1 to 64 alphanumeric characters and underscores. Either an unmasked host-id contains more than 64 characters or the calculated maximum width of a masked host-id token was greater than 64.

Error E0066: Invalid character in token-type "token-text".

A run-id token was specified that contained other than alphanumeric characters and valid masking sequences, or a host-id token was specified that contained other than alphanumeric characters, underscores, and valid masking sequences. The first character of a host-id token must be alphabetic or a valid mask sequence.

Error E0067: Text "text" is an invalid ’HIGHLIGHT’ identifier.

A HIGHLIGHT action was specified but the action text contained an invalid highlight identifier. A valid highlight identifier is RED, GREEN, WHITE, YELLOW, COLOR1, COLOR2, COLOR3, or COLOR4.

Error E0068: Response number indicator is required 
to begin the 'ANSWER' text.

The ANSWER action string must start with the response number indicator ("\n\-" where n is a token or user-defined variable containing the read-and-reply identifier in the message).

Error E0069: No number specified for the 'REMOVE' command.

A REMOVE command was specified without a pattern number. A pattern number can be specified as an individual pattern number or the keyword ALL. If ALL is specified, all patterns in the group are removed.

Error E0070: Token substitution reference > total token count.

A token substitution sequence referred to a token position that does not exist according to the message match criteria. That is, the number of message tokens defined was less than the specified token substitution position.

Error E0071: Text "text" is an invalid database name.

A SMART AMS database name consists of 1 to 8 alphanumeric characters and hyphens. An SP-AMS database name consists of 1 to 128 case-sensitive ASCII characters, and cannot include backslashes. A CP-AMS database name consists of 1 to 255 characters, and cannot include slashes, backslashes, colons, asterisks, question marks, quotation marks, less than and greater than symbols, and vertical bars. Variable substitution is allowed in database name specifications.

Error E0072: Text "text" is an invalid hold-id.

A hold-id consists of 1 to 12 printable ASCII characters except for spaces and backslashes. Run-id and token substitution are allowed in hold-id specifications.

Error E0075: Instance type ’ECHO’ defined for type ’type’ message.

An instance type of ECHO was specified and the message type is READ-AND-REPLY. Messages with a read-and-reply or SCF message type are always the primary copy of the message. Echo copies of a read-and-reply message are typed read-only.

Error E0077: RRID substitution specified in an action for type
’non-READ-AND-REPLY’ message.

A non-read-and-reply pattern has an action defined that includes a read-and-reply identifier substitution sequence (\_RRID\) in the action text.

Error E0078: Text following response number indicator
exceeds '68' characters.

The response-text following the response number indicator is greater than 68 characters for an ANSWER action.

An opening escape character (\) was found without a corresponding closing escape character. parameter is the beginning of the input text containing the unclosed escape sequence. This error can occur if you try to split an escape sequence across input lines using continuation, or if you do not properly close a delimiter list (for example, “ “) or delimiter set (for example, { }).

Error E0079: Escape sequence not closed 
starting at ’parameter’.

A sender type of NON-PRIVILEGED was specified and the message type is CONTINUOUS-DISPLAY. CONTINUOUS-DISPLAY type messages are always sent by the Exec. If a sender type is not specified, PRIVILEGED-EXEC is assumed for CONTINUOUS-DISPLAY type messages.

Error E0086: 'action' action specified for type 'type' message.

An invalid action type (DISPLAY, HIGHLIGHT, HOLD, RELEASE, RESPONSE, SUPPRESS) was specified for a CONTINUOUS-DISPLAY message. Valid action types are ACTIVATE, ALARM, ANSWER, COMMAND, DEACTIVATE, EXECUTE, TCOMMAND, and TEXECUTE.

Error E0087: Run-id substitution specified in 
an action for type ’type’message.

A pattern of message type type has an action defined that includes a run-id substitution sequence (\_RUNID\) in the action text. Run-id substitution is not allowed for CONTINUOUS-DISPLAY messages. CONTINUOUS-DISPLAY messages are always sent by the Exec and, therefore, do not have a run-id association.

Error E0088: Total number of message tokens exceeds 
maximum of max.

The total number of tokens in a message is greater than the maximum. max. If the pattern is standard, use delimiters to create fewer tokens. If the pattern is nonstandard, change the delimiter list or delimiter set to generate fewer tokens.

Error E0089: Token text exceeds maximum length of max characters.

The total number of characters in a fixed or keyword token exceeds the allowed maximum, max . If the pattern is standard, use delimiters to create a token containing fewer characters. If the pattern is nonstandard, change the delimiter list or delimiter set to create a token containing fewer characters.

Error E0090: Token mask exceeds maximum length of max characters.

The maximum possible number of characters in a masked or keyword token exceeds the allowed maximum, max. The maximum possible number of characters in a masked token is calculated by adding the number of fixed text characters specified to the number of required (\?nn\) and optional (\*nn\) characters.

If possible, change the mask. It may be necessary to use or alter the delimiter list or set to create a token containing fewer characters.

Error E0091: Required attribute value pair missing 
or out of order in 'EVENT-REPORT' text.

At least one required attribute value pair (AVP) was missing from an EVENT-REPORT action. Event reports consist of a series of AVPs separated by AVP separators (│). See also the description of error E0092.

The first three AVPs in all event reports must be

TYPE = er-type | CLASS = class | INSTANCE = instance

This order is important. This error is returned if any of the three required attribute names is missing, misspelled, or out of order.

Error E0092: Invalid attribute value pair 
specification in ’EVENT-REPORT’text.

At least one invalid attribute value pair (AVP) was specified in an EVENT-REPORT action. Event reports consist of a series of AVPs separated by separators (│). AVPs have the format:

attribute-name = attribute-value

is the name of the attribute to which attribute-value is applied.

is the assignment character.

attribute-value

is the value to be assigned to attribute-name . This field is optional. If it is blank, the null value is assigned to attribute-name.

This error is returned when an AVP is missing its attribute-name , the assignment character, or both.

Error E0093: ’RUNID’ token specified for type ’type’ messages.

A pattern of message type type has a run-id token defined for matching. run-id tokens are not allowed in CONTINUOUS-DISPLAY patterns. CONTINUOUS-DISPLAY messages are always sent by the Exec and, therefore, do not have an associated run-id by definition.

Error E0094: Type ’type’ redefines the definition type.

More than one definition type (GROUP, PATTERN, VARIABLE) was specified in a DEFINE command.

Error E0095: Type ’type’ redefines the variable type.

More than one variable type (INTEGER, STRING) was specified in a variable TYPE command.

Error E0096: Type ’type’ redefines the time type.

More than one time unit (MINUTES, SECONDS) was specified in a TIMEOUT command or action WAIT clause.

Error E0097: More than one time value specified.

More than one time value was specified in a TIMEOUT command or action WAIT clause.

Error E0098: Time value undefined.

No time value was specified in a TIMEOUT command or action WAIT clause

Error E0099: Number ’value’ is an invalid time value.

A TIMEOUT command or action WAIT clause was specified with an invalid time value. A valid time value is greater than zero and less than 32,767.

Error E0100: Value ’value’ redefines default value.

More than one value was specified in a DEFAULT command in a variable definition.

Error E0101: Variable name "name" exceeds 
maximum length of 32 characters.

The specified variable name contains more than 32 characters. Variable names must begin with an alphabetic character and can contain 1 to 32 alphanumeric characters and underscores.

Error E0102: Variable name "name" is a reserved name.

The names of predefined variable that existed before the introduction of user-defined variables are reserved and cannot be used as the names of user-defined variables. The reserved variable names are DT, IMAGE, MESSAGE, RRID, and RUNID.

Error E0103: Variable name "name" 
does not begin with an alphabetic character.

You tried to define a variable with a name that did not begin with an alphabetic character. Variable names must begin with a alphabetic character and can contain 1 to 32 alphanumeric characters and underscores.

Error E0104: Variable name "name" is already defined.

You tried to define a variable with the name of an existing user-defined variable or to update the definition of an existing user-defined variable.

Error E0105: The default value does not match 
the variable type ’type’.

A string variable was defined with an integer default value or an integer variable was defined with a string default value.

Error E0106: Variable "name" is not defined.

An attempt was made to refer to a variable with a syntactically valid name that was not defined.

Error E0107: Symbol ’symbol’ is an invalid variable name.

An attempt was made to refer to a variable with a syntactically invalid name. Variable names must begin with an alphabetic character and can contain 1 to 32 alphanumeric characters and underscores.

Error E0108: Unexpected operator ’operator’.

An operator (for example, +, -, >, or !=) was found, but was not expected in this context.

Error E0109: Unexpected variable ’variable-name’.

A valid variable name was found, but was not expected in this context.

Error E0110: Missing operator at or near ’symbol’.

An operator (for example, +, -, >, or !=) was expected but not found in an expression. symbolis a reference point in the expression near where the operator was expected.

Error E0111: Operator ’operator’ 
applied to operands of different types.

An attempt was made to assign ( = ) or compare ( =, !=, >=, <=, <, > ) operands of different types, such as string to integer or vice versa.

Error E0112: Unmatched parenthesis character ’character’.

An unmatched opening '(' or closing ')' parenthesis was found in an expression.

Error E0113: Empty parentheses.

An empty set of parentheses [( )] was found in an expression.

Error E0114: Operand starting at ’operand’ 
invalid for operator ’operator’.

The type associated with the operand starting with operand is incompatible with operator. This error can occur if

Error E0115: Missing operand for operator ’operator’.

At least one operand was missing for the operator (for example, +, -, >, or !=) indicated by operator .

Error E0116: No member name specified for variable group reference
’variable-group’.

A variable group was referred to without a member name. A member name reference must always follow the variable-group name and separator (:) without intervening spaces. A valid member name is specified using a fixed string constant, _ALL, or a predefined or user-defined variable name.

Error E0117: Invalid member name specified 
for variable group reference ’variable-group’.

A member of a variable group was referred to using an invalid member name. A member name reference must always follow the variable-group name and separator (:) without intervening spaces. A valid member name is specified using a fixed character string, _ALL, or a predefined or user-defined variable name. An example of an invalid member name is a variable group name or an undefined variable name.

Error E0118: Boolean expression must evaluate to an integer value.

The result of a Boolean expression specified in a CONSTRAINT, IF, or ELSEIF command did not result in an integer value (that is, the result was a string value).

Error E0119: ’command’ must be preceded by an ’IF’ statement.

An ELSEIF, ELSE, or ENDIF command was found that did not follow an IF command.

Error E0120: No ’ENDIF’ corresponding to ’IF’ at line line.

A conditional construct beginning at line was not properly closed with a corresponding ENDIF command.

Error E0121: A ’WAIT’ clause is invalid for action type ’action’.

A WAIT clause was specified for an action type that cannot be delayed. The WAIT clause is only valid for action types ACTIVATE, ALARM, ANSWER, COMMAND, DEACTIVATE, EVENT-REPORT, EXECUTE, PASSWORD, RESPONSE, TCOMMAND, and TEXECUTE. The WAIT clause is not valid for DISPLAY, HIGHLIGHT, HOLD, RELEASE, and SUPPRESS.

Error E0122: Text ’string’ is an invalid script name.

The macro or script name is not a valid name. For CP-AMS a valid macro name consists of 1 to 255 characters, and cannot include slashes, backslashes, colons, asterisks, question marks, quotation marks, less than and greater than symbols, and vertical bars. Token substitution and partial text references are allowed in script name specifications.

Error E0123: ’command’ requires a variable group member target.

A CREATE or DESTROY command was specified with a target other than a variable group member reference such as a variable.

Error E0124: Maximum 'IF' nesting level of 32 exceeded.

An AMS database can have only 32 levels of nested conditional constructs. Restructure your action logic to use fewer nested levels, particularly through the use of ELSEIF commands.

Error E0213: Text macro-name’ is an invalid script name.

The macro or script name specified for an EXECUTE or TEXECUTE command is not a valid name.

[CP-AMS]

The macro name contains one or more invalid characters: slash, backslash, colon, asterisk, question mark, double quote, less-than symbol, greater-than symbol, or vertical bar.

 Error E0214: Cannot convert non-numeric characters to integer.

During evaluation of an expression, an attempt was made to convert a string that contained nonnumeric characters to an integer value. If the expression is part of an IF or ELSEIF clause, the result of the expression is false and processing proceeds to the next ELSEIF, ELSE, or ENDIF clause. If the expression is part of a SET action, the variable or member of a variable group is left unchanged.

Error E0215: An attempt was made to divide by zero.

During evaluation of an expression, an attempt was made to divide by zero. If the expression is part of an IF or ELSEIF clause, the result of the expression is false and processing proceeds to the next ELSEIF, ELSE, or ENDIF clause. The predefined variable _ALL was used to refer to all the members in a variable group, but the variable group does not contain any members.

During evaluation of an expression, an attempt was made to convert numeric characters to an integer value and the resulting integer value exceeds 2,147,483,647 or is less than -2,147,483,647. If the expression is part of an IF or ELSEIF clause, the result of the expression is false and processing proceeds to the next ELSEIF, ELSE, or ENDIF clause. If the expression is part of a SET action, the variable or member of a variable group is left unchanged.

An input line from an Operations Sentinel log file did not include the type of message (read and reply, read only). As a result, VADB cannot reliably continue processing the line. The line is ignored.

Error E0303: Continuous Display message too long.

The message text read is not a valid continuous display message. It exceeds the maximum length for a continuous display message.

Error E0304: Line does not contain a server time.

The line read from an Operations Sentinel log file is invalid. It does not contain an Operations Sentinel server time.
