You can create an autoaction database that is either case sensitive or case insensitive. Case sensitivity applies to alphabetic characters only. Case insensitive is the default.
Case-Insensitive Database
AMS handles all patterns and messages in uppercase letters, regardless of how the patterns are defined in the database and how AMS receives the messages. Any file names, device names, and other names that were specified in lowercase text are compared using their uppercase equivalents.
Case-Sensitive Database
You can define patterns with a mixture of uppercase and lowercase letters. A pattern is matched to a system message when all the tokens match and the case of each letter in the pattern and the case of each letter in the message agree.
Selecting Case Sensitivity for Your Database
System messages appear in mixed uppercase and lowercase letters. If you want an exact match that includes the case of the tokens and delimiters, use the case-sensitive option when creating the database. If you want to match the pattern tokens and delimiters to the message tokens and delimiters, regardless of their case, use the case-insensitive option when creating the database. See Section 6 for the method of specifying case sensitivity for a database.
Effect of Case Sensitivity on Changes to Your Database
Future updates to a database are either case sensitive or case insensitive, depending on how you originally specified the case sensitivity of the database.
