Define the PINs Property

The PINs property provides a list of personal identification numbers (PINs) to be used if you select TAP as the Protocol property value. Each PIN accesses an alphanumeric pager and is assigned by your paging service. The number usually corresponds to the phone number assigned to the pager and not the manufacturer’s PIN.

You can specify more than one PIN to apply any action associated with this template to multiple pagers.

To enter PIN values

  1. In the navigation pane, under the Alert Policies node, expand the desired alert policy.

  2. Select the Templates subnode.

  3. In the display pane, select the desired modem template(s).

  4. In the details pane, select the PINs property and click the ellipsis () in the value field.

    A PINs dialog box appears.

  5. Click Add and enter a PIN value.

  6. Press Enter.

If you want to add another value, click Add again. Continue this step until you have entered all the PIN values.

  7. Click OK to close the window, or Cancel to avoid making any changes.

The changes you make appear in bold until you save them.

  8. Save your changes.

You can also modify or delete values you already entered using the PINs dialog box. Operations Sentinel displays an error message if you try to delete the last PIN in the PINs dialog box.

Tip: To display the existing PIN values in the details pane, click the plus sign (+) that appears to the left of the word PINs in the details pane. The details pane expands to show all PINs defined for this property.
