Although you can define many alert policies, only one can be active on an Operations Sentinel server at a time. This lets you create one alert policy that is active on weekdays, for example, and a different alert policy that is active on weekends. Operations Sentinel does not execute any actions in an alert policy unless that alert policy is active.

Consequences of Activating an Alert Policy

If you activate a different alert policy after an alert is raised, the actions for a subsequent escalation, acknowledgment, or clearing of the alert might be different.

Consequences of Deactivating an Alert Policy

When you deactivate an alert policy, no alert actions are initiated when an alert is subsequently raised, acknowledged, or cleared. However, actions initiated by the alert policy before it was deactivated are completed.
