Enabling and Disabling Filter Conditions (External Applications)

You can choose to enable a filter condition so it is evaluated as part of the object filter, or disable it. Disabling a filter condition means that the expression is ignored when the object filter is evaluated. You might want to disable a filter condition, instead of deleting it, so you can easily restore the filter condition for later use.

When you disable a filter condition for an external application, the filter condition does not affect which managed objects the external application can be launched for. Hence, it does not appear in the expression that appears in the Object Filter property.

If you have specified no filter conditions for the external application, < None > is displayed in the Object Filter property. In contrast, if you specify one or more filter conditions for the external application but disable all of them, the Object Filter property appears blank. In each case, a user cannot launch the external application from any managed objects.

To enable and disable filter conditions

  1. In the navigation pane, select the External Applications node and then select the launch definition in the display pane.

  2. In the details pane, select the Object Filter property and click the ellipsis () on the right.

    The Object Filter Editor appears.

  3. In the Object Filter Editor, you can enable and disable filter conditions (you can also add, edit, and delete them). To enable or disable a filter condition, select or clear the check box next to the desired filter condition.

  4. Save your changes.
