About Remote Desktops

Operations Sentinel Console allows you to launch remote desktop software to control Windows workstations and servers. This feature applies to stand-alone Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 11 as well as Windows nodes of ClearPath, ClearPath Enterprise Systems, and ES7000 servers, and Service Processors in ClearPath and ES7000 Systems.

From a remote desktop window, a user of Operations Sentinel Console has access to any Windows applications accessible to the user account used to log on to the Windows system. For example, if logged on with an administrator account, the user would have full access to Windows administrative tools, including applications such as User Manager, Server Manager, Windows Diagnostics, Backup, Event Viewer, Performance Monitor, Registry Editor, and Control Panel.

Remote control of Windows systems is provided by using one the following products:

See the Operations Sentinel Software Release Announcement for current information on the supported levels and other requirements for using these products with Operations Sentinel Console. See the Operations Sentinel Administration and Configuration Guide for recommended settings when installing these products.

Note: Carbon Copy, VNC, and pcAnywhere are optional products for Windows systems and are not sold, installed, or supported by Unisys. If you wish to use one of these products in conjunction with Operations Sentinel, contact the manufacturer for more information.

Operations Sentinel Console supplies you with example launch definitions for the products listed above that you can use as a starting point for creating your own launch definitions to open remote desktop sessions. Or you can make copies of the sample launch definitions provided and simply modify them. Whenever you add a new Windows System managed object, Remote Desktop Connection is used as the default remote desktop program.
