Changing the number of log files retained lets you manually delete log files. Do this to retain fewer files than the number shown. In other words, you can manually delete log files, possibly overriding your site's logging policy, without changing the Maximum property value for the log.
To change the number of log files retained
Select the Log Policies node in the navigation pane, and then select the desired log(s) in the display pane.
In the details pane, enter the number of log files you want to retain in the File Count property. Any changes you make appear in bold until you save them.
Save your changes. If the actual number of files is higher than the new value you entered, the oldest excess files are automatically deleted. After the changes are applied, the actual number of files still retained is displayed.
Note: Operations Sentinel never automatically deletes consolidated log files created using Operations Sentinel Log Viewer.
