Disabling Logging

The Log Policies node of Operations Sentinel Console allows you to enable and disable logging of messages and event reports from specific sources. When you disable a log source, no messages or event reports from that source are added to the log until you enable logging from that source again.

Notes:

  • For MCP, UNIX, and Linux systems, the Monitor Property for the system also controls logging. Setting Monitor to False for the system automatically disables logging, even if the Enabled property for the corresponding log is set to True.

  • You cannot disable logging of messages from an OS 2200 console if that console is hosted on this Operations Sentinel server. You can disable logging of such messages if the console is hosted on another Operations Sentinel server.

To disable logging for a log source

  1. Expand the Log Policies node.

  2. Select the desired log in the navigation pane.

The log sources for that log are displayed in the display pane.

  3. In the display pane, select the desired log source(s).

  4. In the details pane, use the arrow () to change the True value to False in the Enabled property. Any changes you make appear in bold until you save them.

  5. Save your changes to disable logging for the source.

Disabling logging for a log source does not affect messages and event reports previously logged from that log source.

Note: The Enabled and Continuous Display properties together control logging of continuous display messages for an OS 2200 console log source. Logging of these messages occurs only if both of these properties are set to True.
