You can use the SP-AMS feature of Operations Sentinel to automate operations of managed MCP, UNIX, and Linux systems. SP-AMS runs on an Operations Sentinel server and uses a database of patterns and corresponding actions to perform when a message sent by an MCP, UNIX/Linux, and Linux system matches one of the patterns in the database. These actions can be
Sending a command to OS 2200, MCP, UNIX, or Linux systems being managed by Operations Sentinel.
Writing a message to a log file.
Raising, acknowledging, or clearing an alert.
Saving information as values of variables and variable groups, to be used when subsequent messages are matched.
Although more than one database can be defined for the systems you are managing, only one database can be active on an Operations Sentinel server at a time. Activating or deactivating a database affects all MCP, UNIX, and Linux systems that are managed by the Operations Sentinel server.
For more information on SP-AMS, refer to the Operations Sentinel Autoaction Message System Administration Guide.
