Importing Configuration

The Import function enables users to update or add to an existing Operations Sentinel configuration by using the exported content. This functionality is applicable to Managed Classes, Managed Objects, Managed Groups, Images, Resource Monitor Policies, Zones, Roles, External Applications nodes, and Alert Policies.

To Import Configuration

  1. On the File menu, click the Import / Export Config option.

The Import and Export dialog box appears.

  2. In the Import and Export dialog box, click the ellipses () button.

  3. Browse and select the XML file that you want to import or type the file path in the text box next to the ellipses button.

  4. Click the Import button. This moves all the selected configuration systems from the Import and Export dialog box to the Display pane.

You cannot import base class items. For example, if you have a Default policy under UNIX/LINUX policy which is again under Resource Monitor policies, you can select and import Default policy only.

    Notes:

    • If the configuration data that you want to import has the same name as the data on the Display pane, the Name Conflict dialog box appears. You can choose any of the following options in the Name Conflict dialog box to avoid the name conflict:

      • Replace the existing item

      • Rename the item

      • Do not import this item

    • New Class must be saved before importing objects to it.

  5. On the File menu, click Save All to save the Operations Sentinel configuration.

Notes:

  • You can click the Import All button to import configuration of all the systems such as Managed Classes, Managed Objects, Managed Groups, Images, Resource Monitor Policies, Zones, Roles, External Applications nodes, and Alert Policies.

  • Classes must exist before you import an instance of a class.

  • While importing an alert policy, you can only rename the alert policy or skip the import. You cannot replace an existing alert policy.
