Setting Directory Monitor Attribute at EOM Server-Side

The EOM service monitors the files in the specified directory and processes them through the File Mask configuration. After a file is processed, the EOM marks it as read-only to ensure that the file is processed only once. Therefore, when files are initially copied to a monitored directory, they should not be marked as read-only.

Configuring a File Mask

EOM is designed to route and process files automatically. The EOM configuration entity that provides this function is a File Mask. The File Mask is a collection of criteria that determines the processing of incoming files. File masks are used to determine the file group and the kind of job or jobs that are automatically created.

When a file arrives in EOM, it is compared against the file masks, which are configured in Configuration Explorer. When the file matches the selection criteria defined in one of the File Masks, EOM creates a job that performs the actions specified in the File Mask.

Each File Mask has two main tasks that an administrator configures through the File Masks properties pane of Configuration Explorer:

To configure a File Mask,

  1. In the main Enterprise Output Manager window, click Tools and select Configuration Explorer.

    The Configuration Explorer window appears.

  2. Under File Masks in the tree view pane, do either of the following:

    1. Find a File Mask whose properties are similar to the ones you want to use for this file mask. Right-click the File Mask and select Clone. The property values of the selected File Mask are copied to the new File Mask which provides a template for the new file mask.

    2. Otherwise, to begin with the default values, right-click the File Masks category and select Add.

  3. In the properties pane, enter a name for the new file mask.

  4. The File Mask property pane contains various categories. You can modify as per your requirement.

  5. Save the changes.

Configuring a File Group

You need to configure the File Group attribute along with the File Mask to obtain the original log file names. This procedure explains how to create a new File Group, which specifies how all the files in the group should be stored and managed.

To create a new File Group,

  1. In the main Output Manager window, click Tools and select Configuration Explorer.

  2. Under File Groups in the tree view pane, do either of the following:

    1. Find a file group whose properties are similar to the ones you want to use for this file group. Right-click the File Group and select Clone. The property values of the highlighted item are copied to the new item which provides a template for the file group.

    2. Otherwise, to begin with the default values, right-click the File Group category and select Add.

  3. In the properties pane, enter a name for the new file group.

  4. Make changes to the definition, as necessary. For example, assigning group priority, entering the Directory Alias, specifying File Hold Directory and so on.

  5. You must ensure to set the following properties.

    Property Value
Mark created files as read-only Yes
    Suggested file name pattern <ORIGFILETITLE>.SLG
  6. Save the changes.

Configuring a Monitored Directory

  1. In the main Output Manager window, click Tools and select Configuration Explorer.

    The Configuration Explorer window opens.

  2. Under Directory Monitors in the tree view pane, do either of the following:

    1. Find a Directory Monitor whose properties are similar to the ones you want to use for this Directory Monitor. Right-click the File Group and select Clone. The field values of the selected Directory Monitor are copied to the new Directory Monitor which provides a template for the new DirectoryMonitor.

    2. Otherwise, to begin with the default values, highlight the Directory Monitors category, right-click, and select Add.

  3. In the properties pane, enter a name for the new Directory Monitor.

  4. Specify the configuration information for the various properties.

  5. Save the changes.
