About Alert Forwarding Configuration

Alert Forwarding can be described as forwarding of alerts from local Operations Sentinel server to destination Operations Sentinel server.

To configure the Alert Forwarding Service

  1. Open the Administration mode of Operations Sentinel on the server.

  2. On the Tools menu, point to Forward Alerts and select Configure.

Note: To enable the Configuration window, Alert Forwarding service must be running.

To start the Alert Forwarding Service

  1. Open the Administration mode of Operations Sentinel on the server.

  2. On the Tools menu, point to Forward Alerts and select Enable.

Note: To install the Alert Forwarding service, refer Alert Forward Service- Installation Help.

Primary Server: It is the Primary destination Server in which the forwarded alerts are received.

Forward alerts to both servers: Upon selecting this checkbox, alerts are forwarded to both primary and secondary servers.

Secondary Sever: It is the secondary server, which is optional. If configured, forwarded alerts are received.

Note: You have to install Alert Forwarding Service to enable configuration of Forward Alerts.

Based on the type of alert you wish to receive, you can choose from the following:

  1. Configuring Alert Forwarding Service for All Alerts.

  2. Configuring Alert Forwarding Service for Alerts based on Severity.

  3. Configuring Alert Forwarding Service for Alerts based on Selected Managed Objects.

Notes:

  • Duplicate alerts are not forwarded to the destination server.

  • Alert Forwarding Service is compatible with Operations Sentinel 19.0 and above.
