When a client is initialized, it can request to be informed of all outstanding alert events. It does this using the function SPD_RequestEvents (see 7.17).

When a client requests all events with SPD_RequestEvents, these events are reported as a series of individual events. Thus, the receipt of events requested in this manner requires no special processing on the part of the client, other than what is required for the normal receipt of an event.
