Before you install the Operations Sentinel server software, you must
Install Microsoft .NET Framework level 4.8 or later, if necessary. See Microsoft .NET Framework for more information.
Perform the migration procedures documented in the Operations Sentinel Administration and Configuration Guide if you are migrating from a UnixWare Operations Sentinel server.
If you have previously installed Operations Sentinel on the server, before you perform this installation all users must log off the server and all workstations that are connected to the server. You must also stop the Operations Sentinel Server services if they are running by clicking the Start menu, pointing to Programs, Unisys Operations Sentinel x.y.z , Administrative Tools, and then clicking Stop Server Services. See the Operations Sentinel Administration and Configuration Guide for more information.
Operations Sentinel must be installed on the Windows NT file system. To create a new partition with the NT file system or to convert an existing partition, refer to the Microsoft Help for your operating system.
To install Operations Sentinel server software
Click Operations Sentinel from the Installation home screen.
The InstallShield Wizard checks all hardware and software requirements.
If the requirements are not met, an error window appears and the installation stops. Correct any problems before proceeding.
If all hardware and software requirements are met, and if this version of Operations Sentinel was not previously installed, the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Unisys Operations Sentinel x.y.z window appears.
If the same version of Operations Sentinel is already installed, a program maintenance window appears. Using this window, you can uninstall Operations Sentinel, if necessary.
Click Next.
The License Agreement window appears.
Select the I accept the terms in the license agreement button to proceed with the installation.
Click Next.
The Customer Information window appears.
Enter the appropriate information in the User Name and Organization text boxes to identify the installer of Operations Sentinel.
Select the appropriate button in the Install this application for box: either Anyone who uses this computer or Only for me.
If you select Anyone who uses this computer, this option allows other user accounts to access the application. This option is selected by default.
If you select Only for me, this option prevents other user accounts that use (or can use) the same workstation from seeing the application. The application is only visible from the desktop of your user account.
Click Next.
The Setup Type window appears.
Select the Operations Sentinel Server button.
If Microsoft .NET Framework is not installed on the server, the installation warns that dependent software is missing and terminates prematurely. Make sure you first install Microsoft .NET Framework from the Installation home screen. After this is installed, you can restart the installation of Operations Sentinel Server.
Click Next.
The Service Account Information window appears if the Operations Sentinel Server service does not exist already.
Enter the account under which the Operations Sentinel Server services will run.
This account must have Administrator privileges.
Enter your password and confirm it.
Click Next.
The Destination Folders window appears.
Click Next to install the components in the listed folders. Click Change next to a folder if you want to change program, data, logs, or output in a different location. Clicking Change allows you to browse to the folder of your choice.
The default program, data, log, and output folders are
C:\Program Files\Unisys\Operations Sentinel\x.y.z
C:\Program Data\Unisys\Operations Sentinel\x.y.z\data
C:\Program Data\Unisys\Operations Sentinel\LOG
C:\Program Data\Unisys\Operations Sentinel\x.y.z\output
where x.y.z is the version number of Operations Sentinel that you are installing. (This assumes that the drive is C.)
Note: You can choose any folder to install Operations Sentinel. However, if you plan to run UNIX scripts for alert actions on a product such as Interix or Windows Services for UNIX, do not include spaces when entering the path name to the data folder.
If a specified folder does not exist, it is created during installation.
If the specified program folder is already in use by any other version of Operations Sentinel that is installed on this server, a Warning dialog box appears and the change request is not honored.
If the data folder you specified does not exist, it is created during the installation.
Existing configurations from previous installation of Operations Sentinel Console must be manually recreated in the Operations Sentinel level 11.0 environment.
If the specified data folder contains data, the contents of the folder are saved to a backup folder that has the name of the specified folder with the extension . bak before installing new data.
Data for this version of Operations Sentinel is added to the specified data folder, and index files within the Operations Sentinel data are modified accordingly. You can distinguish this version from other versions by looking for the version number that is appended to subfolder names.
Click Install to start the installation.
The Installing Unisys Operations Sentinel x.y.z Server window appears and the installation starts.
When the Operations Sentinel Merge Configuration window appears, do one of the following steps:
Click Skip if you do not want to merge the Operations Sentinel data folders, and go to step 18.
Click Browse to locate and select the data folder of the previous version of Operations Sentinel.

Under the Merged old version data from User folder, in the Names column, rename the current name and then click Proceed.
After merging, a message that the merge has been complete appears.
Click OK to continue the installation.
After the installation completes, the InstallShield Wizard Completed window appears.
Click Finish.
After the installation finishes, start the Operations Sentinel Server services as described in the Operations Sentinel Administration and Configuration Guide.
Note: If you want to monitor the Service Processor and obtain the information about System PowerStatus, temperatureStatus, impellerStatus, or cabinetDoorStatus, the SC Bridge Host service should be set to start automatically. For more information refer to Operations Sentinel Administration and Configuration Guide.
