To open a log file
Start the Operations Sentinel Log Viewer using one of the following methods:
Operations Sentinel Console View
Click Log Viewer on the Tools menu in Operations Sentinel Console View.
Operations Sentinel Console
Use one of the following methods to start Log Viewer from Operations Sentinel Console
From a system icon in a topology
Right-click the icon of the system whose log you want to view. Click Log Viewer from the shortcut menu.
From an Alert
Right-click an alert and click View Log from the shortcut menu.
From the Tools menu
Click Log Viewer on the Tools menu.
You can also start Log Viewer from various shortcut menus in Operations Sentinel Console. Right-click an item in the navigation pane or display pane. If Log Viewer appears in the shortcut menu, click it to open Log Viewer.
Windows Start menu
From the Start menu, click Programs, Unisys Operations Sentinel x.y.z, and then click Operations Sentinel Log Viewer.
Windows Explorer
In Windows Explorer, double-click the name of the desired log file (it should have a .slg extension). Log Viewer opens directly to that log file.
Note: You must know exactly where the desired .slg file is stored in Windows Explorer.
The Log Viewer window opens and the Select a Log dialog box appears.
In the Select a Log dialog box, select the desired log file you want to view. If the desired log file is not displayed, click Browse to find and select a log file from a different location. Click OK.
If the log file for today
Exists— Log Viewer displays the log file in the window.
Does not exist— Log Viewer displays an error message. Click OK to dismiss the error message. The Select a Date dialog box appears and lists the dates for which a log file exists. Click a day and then click OK. The log file appears in the Log Viewer window.
