The message type of a logged message can be one from the following list. Other values can be defined by site applications or by log event reports generated from SP-AMS database specifications.

Continuous display (OS 2200 system consoles only).

Close display session. Used for logging the closing of a console window. The source is the name of the host. The source qualifier is a string in the format spo-pid(user) where pididentifies the instance of Operations Sentinel Console used to close the display session anduseris the Windows user name of the operator running that instance of Operations Sentinel Console. The closing of a remote Windows desktop or terminal session is not logged.
CN
Control. Denotes events of global interest, such as a loss of connection, detected by Operations Sentinel Logging.
DA
Discard acknowledge alert (SP-SPALS log files only). Indicates that an event report that acknowledges an alert was discarded by the SPALS alert server. The alert being acknowledged either was not outstanding or had already been acknowledged.
DB
SP-AMS debug mode message (SP-AMS log files only). Used for actions that SP-AMS would have taken if the system was not in debug mode.
DC
Discard clear alert (SP-SPALS log files only). Indicates that an event report that clears an alert was discarded by the SPALS alert server, because the alert being cleared was not outstanding.

DMON (OS 2200 system consoles only). Indicates output from an OS 2200 DMON session.

Discard raise alert (SP-SPALS log files only). Indicates that the event report that raises an alert was discarded by the SPALS alert server, because the alert being raised duplicated an alert already outstanding.

Error. Indicates an event report that was discarded because it was in error.

Install. Indicates a message produced during installation of an Operations Sentinel agent on a Windows system or an OpenView Network Node Manager node.

Keyin (OS 2200 system consoles only).

Launch of an external application from Operations Sentinel Console. Messages with this type include the command string, each environment variable, and a code indicating the success or failure of the application initiation.
NO
Normal. When the source is
An OS 2200 system console, NO is used for normal output from all sessions.
A host, such as a UNIX system, NO is used for both output and input.
OP
Open display session. Used for logging the opening of a console window, remote Windows desktop, or terminal session. The source is the name of the host for console sessions and Windows desktops, and the terminal session name for terminal sessions. The source qualifier is a string of the format spo-pid(user) where pididentifies the instance of Operations Sentinel Console used to open the display session, and user is the Windows user name of the operator running that instance of Operations Sentinel Console.

Error messages and the associated descriptions of the host messages leading to the error are typed "TR" even if SP-AMS is in normal automation mode.
