Specifying Limits for Message Buffering

OS 2200 Console View suspends updating a pane and buffers new messages for that pane when that pane has focus. To have focus in a pane, you must click somewhere in that pane. Use these options to specify how long OS 2200 Console View buffers messages.

To specify the limits for message buffering

  1. Click Options on the Tools menu.

    The Options dialog box appears.

  2. On the General tab panel, specify the maximum number of messages you want buffered and the maximum time you want to elapse before updates to the pane resume.

  3. Click Apply to accept the changes you made. OK closes the Options dialog box.

Notes:

  • Message updates resume when one of the limits expire. The pane loses focus and the cursor returns to the command line.

  • The message buffering limits are a compromise between the time it takes to perform an action in the pane, such as scrolling or copying text, and the need to see incoming messages.
