Enterprise Output Manager Reports

Enterprise Output Manager (previously called DEPCON) is a comprehensive print management and file distribution solution for mixed platform networks. The primary function of the Enterprise Output Manager application is to automatically route print files from any supported platform to any other supported platform. However, the main advantage when paired with Agile Business Suite is to increase flexibility in designing and printing reports.

Enterprise Output Manager Reports are usually reports that have been defined in Developer using the Enterprise Output Manager wizard however it is possible to direct the output of any report to Enterprise Output Manager.

Enterprise Output Manager Reports are similar to direct reports. Output from an Enterprise Output Manager Report is a text file with control headers that specify the print attributes for a given report. Enterprise Output Manager automatically detects the output print jobs. It is the Enterprise Output Manager administrator's responsibility to set up Enterprise Output Manager to print reports. Enterprise Output Manager then uses File Masks to read the header information and assign print attributes and a printer.

Printing

Printing to Enterprise Output Manager is triggered by using the device type DP. You should configure an EOM printer in your Windows Operating System to print the EOM report. The report output is in the EOM output data format. In order to print the Enterprise Output Manager report from a default printer you should do one of the following:

  1. Set the Enterprise Output Manager (EOM) Printer as your default printer in the Printer s dialog when GLB.STN is set to blank. As long as the GLB.STN is blank, the output is directed to the application user's Windows Default Printer, which can be set via Microsoft Printer dialog. Refer to Using a Windows (Standard) Printer for more information on how to configure a default printer.

  2. Use the GLB.STN and ROC ALIAS if you want to direct the output to printer regardless of whether the device is set to LP or DP. This way the physical printer name can be made independent of their LDL logic. It should avoid the hidden default printer name in Windows which can be overlooked by the users.

Refer to the Agile Business Suite Developer Online Help and the Enterprise Output Manager Configuration and Operations Guide for more information on how to set up Enterprise Output Manager for printing.

Note: To create shared Enterprise Output Manager printers, you need to install Enterprise Output Manager software and configure its mechanism.
