Different types of output devices use different instruction sequences to produce similar output (for example, printing in red).
When creating a specification, output control codes can be used to indicate that special output is to be produced.
The CODES file contains the association of model, output control code, and instruction sequence. It is used by ROC to produce output for standard reports.
Note: The CODES file must be saved in Unicode format and then be used by ROC, else a warning stating "Printer control code alias 'CODE1' not found in printer CODES file” is displayed.
For example, you might use the output control code RED in a standard report. To produce output on three different types of printer, three records are required in the CODES file, each with the appropriate instruction sequence.
