Deploying MSIs or CAB Files Using Runtime Transfer

It is recommended that you use DeployPackage.exe, which is a command line utility, or Runtime Transfer to deploy cloned MSIs, partial MSIs, or CAB files. DeployPackage.exe allows you to script deployment operations so that you can easily repeat complex deployment operations.

To deploy cloned MSIs, partial MSIs, or CAB files, perform the following:

  1. Open the Runtime Administration Tool, right-click the runtime server, and select All Tasks > Runtime Transfer.

    The Initialise Runtime Transfer dialog box appears.

  2. Perform the following in the Initialise Runtime Transfer dialog box.

    1. Select the Custom Packaged System option.

    2. In the Select Package Folder field, browse and select the cloned or partial MSI\CAB.

    3. Click OK.

    The List of Deployment Packages dialog box appears.

  3. Perform the following in the List of Deployment Packages dialog box.

    1. In the Available Deployment Packages pane, the MSI\CAB that you selected is displayed.

      Click Add to add the MSI\CAB to the Packages to Transfer and Deploy pane.

    2. Click OK.

    The Deployment Settings for Package dialog box appears.

  4. Perform the following in the Deployment Settings for Package dialog box.

    1. Specify the Target Server Name.

    2. Select the Target DB Server Registration.

    3. Select the Target DB Name.

    4. Specify the Deployment Unit Name, Target Application Folder, and Target Winform folder.

    5. Select the Retain Existing Database check box.

    6. Click Next.

    The Application User Details for Target Machine dialog box appears.

  5. In the Application User Details for Target Machine dialog box, enter the Application User details and click Finish.

    The Administration Client Console window displays the runtime transfer details.

  6. Click OK to exit.

    The cloned MSI, the partial MSI, or the CAB file is deployed to the machine.

    Note: Ensure to create a cloned report if the deployment is for a cloned system.
