Configure Adapters Dialog Box

Use the tab pages contained in this dialog box to set up the configuration options for the protocol adapters.

RATL over TCP/IP and HUB

Port Number

Enter the port number on which the RATL over TCP/IP (RATLSocket) or the HUB (HUBSocket) protocol adapter listens for incoming connections with the Agile Business Suite application.

Time Out

Enter the time, in seconds, that the adapter waits before timing out a user session. Any user session that is idle for this time period is automatically timed out and disconnected.

Session Protection Time Out

This setting applies only to non-anonymous users. These users who log in with a unique station name; for example, Windows user name.

In general, the system prevents a second session being started with the same user name by returning a “Duplicate User” error. This error is displayed where a session is active within the runtime server but the client program is no longer running. You attempt to run a new client to start a new session, the session fails and displays the “Duplicate User” error, that prevents the user from starting a new session. This situation can be resolved by setting a value in “Session Protection Time Out”, such as 120 seconds (2 minutes). If a new session connection request comes in for a user and the original session is idle for less than the “Session Protection Time Out” period, then the new session connection request is rejected with a “Duplicate User” error. However, if the original session is idle for longer than this period (for example, more than 2 minutes) the original session is forcibly disconnected and a new session connection is made.

Setting a value in “Session Protection Time Out” prevents inadvertent forced logout of the currently active user session. That is, a session is protected from a forcible logout as long as it is active and not idle. Although, you can automatically replace an existing or orphaned session with a new session by waiting for the “Session Protection Time Out” period to elapse.

A value of “0“ means “ infinite”. That is, existing sessions always reject a new session connection request for the same user. An alternative mechanism to clean up an orphan session in the runtime server is to use the CLEAR administration command.
