Using the Scope Pane

The nodes in the scope pane represent the structures required to run and manage deployed applications, as described in the following table:

Administration Tool snap-in

The root node of the Administration Tool MMC snap-in.

Local Domain

The local domain of the Windows workstation.

Network Neighborhood

The additional domains of a Windows network.

Message Log

Contains logged messages. Select to view the logged messages in the result pane.

Favorites

Contains server machines that are selected for use in Runtime.

Runtime Servers

The server machines that are selected for use in Runtime.

Views

The protocol adapter views that are set up for use by the server.

Event Log

A Windows Event log is installed for every server machine.

Database Server Registration

The servers registered for use on a given machine.

SQL Server 2017 Database

SQL Server 2017 databases that is available on the selected server.

SQL Server 2017 application

Applications that are generated and deployed to an SQL Server 2017 database.

Report

Reports that are available in the selected application.

Running Report

Reports that are currently running in the selected application.

Stopped Report

Reports that have been stopped and are available for recovery.

Accessing Administration Options

All available options can be selected from either the menu bar or the context menus. Using the right mouse button gives you fast access to context menus and lets you quickly perform functions on a selected node.

Refreshing the Scope Pane

The navigation tree dynamically changes as you modify its structures. Changes that other users make are not visible to you unless you refresh the navigation tree. You need to refresh individual nodes so that changes are visible.

To refresh the navigation tree, perform the following:

  1. Select the required node.

  2. On the Action menu, select Refresh. Alternatively, right-click the node and select Refresh.
