Conventions

Limits are summarized in tables. Additional information might be included after each table.

The phrase No limit means that there is no direct limit, although system software and size considerations (and the associated increase in edit and generate times) might have an impact.

The phrase System means that the limit is imposed by system software, such as the COBOL compiler.
