You can search within a project for named elements that match a string, regular expression or wildcard expression. The search can be performed through the entire project, or restricted to a selected element or a selected element and its members. The search is performed from the Search dialog box in which you enter the search parameters.
Note: Search can also be started from the Members list of any element. When started from the Members list, multiple items can be selected.
The search results are displayed in the Search Results List. From this window a found item can be displayed in its default editor window.
To initiate a search, perform the following:
Open the Class View window by selecting Class View from the View menu.
Sort the hierarchical list into the most appropriate form to locate the element you want to use. If necessary, click the plus (+) symbol next to a node to list all the elements within the node.
Select the element.
From the Edit menu, select Search, or use the right-click context menu and select Search.
The Search dialog box appears.
Note: You can also use the Visual Studio Find and Replace functions to initiate a search. Refer to the MSDN documentation for more information on using the Visual Studio Find and Replace functions.
