You can import the PModel file to an existing model database from which it is exported. If you try to create a new database, an error message appears.
When you import the PModel file you have to validate each GUID in the file to ensure that the element in the file is not modified illegally. For example, changing CLASS to METHOD or setting the owner element to a PRESENTATION.
To import a PModel file, perform the following:
Open the Model Importer.
From the Destination Server drop-down list, select the name of the server containing the model into which you want to import the file.
From the Destination Model drop-down list, select the name of the database into which you want to import the file.
In the Source File box, enter the location of the PModel file or click Add to browse for the PModel file that you want to import.
Click OK.
This imports the PModel file to the existing model database.
Notes:
If you export the model and want to import it back, do not delete any elements in AB Suite Developer as you can get Element Verification errors during import.
It is recommended to back up the AB Suite model prior to importing PModel files as it helps to undo any unintended changes. You can back up your model database through SQL Management Studio or export it to a .model file prior to importing PModel files.
