External classes act as place holders for components outside your application. (Refer to Component Technologies) For example, they might represent a .NET or COM component, or a transaction-providing application. Alternatively, they might be a place holder for an unspecified, future inclusion.

External classes are equivalent to Wildcards or OVI Ispecs, and methods of external classes are also equivalent to CALL command invocations defined in EAE Developer.
