Click Create Differences Report on the View Differences dialog box. Use this dialog box to create a report showing the differences displayed in the View Differences dialog
box. This report is restricted to revisions compared in this dialog. The Create Differences Report dialog box is displayed.
You can also report differences from the History Migrator Viewer.
Click Report or select the Tools, Reporting Differences menu to create a difference report in 3.x format for any two version labels at either the Business Segment or Model Level.
Create Differences Report Dialog Box
The Create Differences Report dialog box is displayed when you press Create Differences Report on the View Differences dialog box. Use this dialog box to create a report showing the differences displayed in the View Differences dialog box.
This report is created in XML format and is stored to either the Developer working directory (the default location) or to a location that you specify. You can then view and print this report through your internet browser or further develop it in whatever way you want. For example, you can write other applications to use your reports, or convert your reports to other output types.
Determining the Report Output
Specify the information you want the report to contain:
All Sections
The report contains all sections of the objects you are comparing, whether or not they contain differences.
This is the default.
Sections with Differences
The report only contains the sections with differences. (The report contains the entire section, even if there is only one difference in it.)
Determining the Format
Choose an XSL stylesheet to determine the presentation of the report.
Developer contains two predefined XSL stylesheets, which translate the XML into HTML so you can view the report in your internet browser. One predefined stylesheet formats differences reports to show all the records, logic and/or lines of text in the sections that the specification contains, even if there are no differences between the versions you are comparing. The other predefined stylesheet formats differences
reports to show only the records, logic and/or lines of text in which there are differences between the versions you are comparing.
You can use custom XSL stylesheets if you prefer, which can translate the XML to whatever format you want.
Specify how you want the information in your report to be presented:
Show All Records and Logic/Text Lines
The report contains all the records, logic and/or lines of text in the sections that you have specified it to contain, even if there are no differences.
Show Only Records and Logic/Text Lines with Differences
The report only contains records, logic and/or lines of text in which there are differences.
Use a Custom Stylesheet
Specify your own XSL stylesheet to determine the report format and content. You can type a relative path (relative to the location of the XML file) or a full path name, or use the Browse button to find the stylesheet.
Specifying the Report Name
If you specify the file name, it is saved to the Developer working directory as an XML file.
Use the Browse button to save the report to another location.
Viewing Reports
The attribute settings in the Display Attributes dialog box control how your report appears.
You can set the color display attributes of deleted, added, and changed information in the report, the character encoding format if required, and whether to ignore name differences and/or LCIF format changes.
You also need to ensure that your internet browser is capable of viewing XML to view your reports.
Difference Report XML Encoding Dialog Box
Use the Difference Report XML Encoding dialog box to set the XML Encoding of differences reports.
The Difference Report XML Encoding attribute determines the character encoding format of differences reports, which are XML files.
Open this dialog box from the Display Attributes dialog box by selecting Difference Report XML Encoding in the Attributes pane and clicking Change.
In the text box, enter a character encoding format supported by your browser. Some examples are:
For most Western European languages: ISO-8859-1
For Kanji: SHIFT_JIS
