Defining an Extract File Name

You can define the name of a PERMANENT or EXISTING Extract file by using any one of the following:

The name might be any valid pathname, with a maximum length of 100 characters. The file name portion of the pathname cannot exceed 17 characters.

The name and category you define with any of the above options is dynamic and takes effect when the command is executed. By using these commands, you can change the name and category of the extract file repeatedly.

MCP Runtime continues to support the RAS (RetainAs or RetainedAs) command option as a means of defining a filename, but it is not recommended. The name might be any valid pathname, with a maximum length of 18 characters. This includes specifying a tape device name. The file name portion of the pathname cannot exceed 14 characters.

The filename you define with the RAS command option is not dynamic, but is determined at buildtime. If you include multiple RAS names for the same file, only the one closest to the end of the Report is used. The name defined by the RAS command option is overridden by the first use of any of the dynamic naming options, such as SetTitle.
