A NOF terminal or program can initiate a transaction to an application by sending the transaction through COMS, in Agile Business Suite format.

When a NOF transaction is received by the application, it is treated exactly the same as a transaction from a networked terminal, except that an unformatted reply is sent; that is, terminal control characters and delimiters are not included in the reply.
