Your applications can communicate with an OLTP environment as a server, a client, or both.
Applications use the external Automatic Entry processing (HUB) model as a basis for the support of OLTP facilities. To provide the full functionality required, a number of modifications have been made to some existing logic commands and built-in segment attributes. Refer to Using Logic for OLTP for more information.
Conversational-mode OLTP transactions are not supported. There is no capability within Agile Business Suite to manage multiple responses to an external Automatic Entry transaction, as the transaction model assumes a single response.
With OLTP, an application can communicate with itself; either from a Report to an Ispec, or from an Ispec to another Ispec. Use this facility with caution, because it increases the possibility of database deadlock errors. |
