The syntax for this command is as follows:
BACKUPS
Use this command to display a help screen about backing up files.
Note: This command will not perform a backup for you.
There are certain files that are critical to the functioning of Application Builder and the generate process.
The Checkpointarray (CPA) file (*APPL_BLD_70/INFO) holds all relevant system and report information. As such it should be included in any regular backup process performed for critical data. The generate log (*APPL_BLD_70/LOG) also contains important generate status information but its loss only causes the loss of tailored Application Builder settings (for example, MAXSYSGEN etc), as well as the inability to review historical generate information. Should a ../INFO file not be present when the Application Builder is initiated, it waits for confirmation before initializing a new ../INFO file.
Refer to CONSOLIDATE command for more information on managing and maintaining data in the ../INFO file.
Refer to MAXLOGSIZE command for more information on the maintenance and consolidation of the ../LOG.
In addition, the system information contained in the Checkpointarray for the Build process should be backed up on a regular basis as its loss requires complete system generates to re-establish all the system internal information required for a generate. This file is called as follows:
(<appl usercode>)<sys name>/SOURCE_FILE/BUILD/MEMDB
