This subsection gives the information required to configure, maintain, and use RDB. Refer to the ClearPath Enterprise Servers Remote Database Backup Planning and Operations Guide for more information on DMS II Remote Database facility.
It assumed that the users of this section have already done the RDB-specific pre-implementation research and have decided on core RDB issues as described in sections 1 to 4 of the ClearPath Enterprise Servers Remote Database Backup Planning and Operations Guide.
Terminology
Enterprise Database Server is most popularly known by its predecessor acronym DMS II and the Remote Database capability included in DMS II is known as RDB. The term RDB is used throughout this subsection.
The implementation and maintenance of systems that use RDB is done exclusively through the Runtime Transfer Utility, referred to throughout this subsection as RTU. Refer to Introduction to the Runtime Transfer Utility for more information on RTU.
This section therefore has following two objectives:
Identify how RDB is implemented and supported with Agile Business Suite systems.
Identify how the RTU utility is used to maintain Agile Business Suite systems and databases that comprise an RDB primary and secondary installation.
