Using the VIEW/MODIFY USER LANGUAGES Screen

Use the View /Modify User Languages screen for:

These tasks are covered below.

Viewing Languages

To display your currently defined languages, enter Y in the View/Modify User Languages property on the FTU Welcome screen.

Defining Additional Languages

Enter Y in the View/Modify User Languages property on the FTU Welcome screen to display your currently defined languages. To define additional language positions, enter the required language names in the appropriate language positions.

This facility is only available when you are translating the LGLOBALFORMS file and the LGLOBAL MULTILANG file.

You do not have to define language positions for use with the LGLOBALFORMS file, although it is recommended for your documentation purposes.

Note: For the UTILITY/LINCFORM file, use the :ADD command to add further sets of the screens. These cannot be defined within the View/Modify User Languages facility.

Deleting Languages

Any language position except the Primary language position can be deleted by using the View/Modify User Languages screen. To delete languages, blank out the appropriate language names by overtyping them with spaces.

Except for the following exceptions, deleting a language position makes that language unavailable for use within FTU or in any application:

Changing Language Order

Any defined language position, including that of your Primary language, can be renamed by overtyping with a different language name.

Altering language positions only changes language names. For example, if you swapped language position 2 (for example, FRENCH) with language position 3 (for example, GERMAN) then your translations for language number 2 are not altered; they are only retitled.

This facility is particularly useful if you only have the Runtime product. By altering or renaming language order, and then retranslating those languages through FTU, you can provide Runtime end users with their own specific translation requirements.

This facility is not available with the UTILITY/LINCFORM file, and has no effect on the LGLOBAL MULTILANG or LGLOBALFORMS files.
