SMU Screens

Home Screen

The Home screen is displayed when you initiate SMU. Use this screen to:

Specifying a Control File

To specify a control file, enter the title in the Control File property.

Valid formats of the Control File are:

Viewing or Changing Application Settings

To view or change system settings, display the application, Database, COMS, and OLTP Options screens. If all the settings meet your requirements, enter Y in either the Update or the Clone property.

If you choose to update application settings, a Copy Options screen is displayed. Transmit the screen when you have reviewed the settings. A Change Summary screen is displayed showing the actions that takes place as a result of your changes. Enter Y in the Proceed with update/clone property and transmit.

 Caution

Do not attempt to change the settings on the Copy Options screen unless you are an experienced user.

System Options Screen

The System Options screen enables you to enter a new application name and new family settings. To enter a new usercode, you must initiate SMU from a privileged usercode. (If you are cloning your application, you must enter either a new usercode, or a new application name and database name.)

If a value is not entered in the ROC file family property, the name of the ROC file family value defaults to the value in the ROC DB family property on the Database Options screen.

Database Options Screen

The Database Options screen enables you to enter:

If you are cloning the application and not changing the usercode, you must specify a new database name.

If you specify a DMS usercode and family, SMU updates the DASDL to use that DMS software and uses the compilers in that location to compile the database and generated software.

COMS Options Screen

The COMS Options screen enables you to enter a new window name, protected input and protected output file settings.

If you are cloning the application, you must specify a new window name.

OLTP Options Screen

For OLTP-enabled applications, the OLTP Options screen enables you to change OLTP service names.

If the number of server names exceeds the number displayed on the screen, enter N or P in the Next/Prev property to scroll the display.

Copy Options Screen

The Copy Options screen is displayed if you entered Y in the Update property on the Home screen.

If the properties are prefilled with an entry of Y, SMU has detected the need to relocate files within that category. If a property is prefilled with an entry of N, you cannot change it.

If you change a property from Y to N, SMU prevents the relocation of files within that group. You might use this action if a pack has been lost and part of the application is to be restored to another pack. For example, if the object pack was lost, the System object files could be reloaded to another pack. You could then enter Y in the Update property to change the object pack. As the object files are at the target location (and not at the source), the attempted relocation of the object files can be prevented.
