Functionality of Examiner

Examiner provides data collection mechanisms to assist in measuring the performance of your built applications.

The figure below gives a graphical overview of Examiner.

Overview of Examiner

Examiner differs from other performance measurement tools such as SMFII or CP/ ANALYZER, in that it provides information on a transaction basis, rather than on a program, load category, or system resource basis.

Examiner enables you to determine:

Data collection is the process of gathering performance data on a transaction basis for a production System in real time. This is accomplished through code that (when enabled) provides a trace of each transaction that is to be analyzed.

The code gathers performance data at various stages within the transaction path. The data collected at each stage is stored in a record known as a timing point. This technique makes it possible to trace resource usage at each stage, by every Agile Business Suite program, within the life of the transaction.

Data assembly and data reporting are not provided by Examiner. This must be sourced from appropriate providers.
