Using ROC to Access Other Files

You can use ROC to access and print files other than standard Report output.

To do this, you must first add the required printer backup file, Report Extract file, or standard System data file to your ROC Database, by performing the following.

Note: This only creates a Report header record for the file. The contents of the file are not copied.

  1. From any ROC screen, enter AD in the Action property. This recalls the Add Standard File screen.

  2. Enter the file name in the File name property, as described in the following table.

    File Type

    Enter file name

    Printer Backup file

Name of any printer backup file

    Report Extract file

    extract ON pack

    System data file

    file [ON pack]

  3. Transmit to recall file parameters such as:

    • Date and time file created

    • File usercode

    • File type (1 for data file, 2 for printer backup)

    • Record length

    • Block Size

    • Number of Records

    • Number of Blocks

  4. To define output parameters, enter values in the properties, as listed in the following table.

    Property

    Description

    Device

VD, TP, RP, LP, or EX. If not specified, no Output Request is created.

    Destination

Station name. If not specified, the Output Request is queued unless it is to an LP device.

    Save Days

Number of days the file header is to be retained.

    Host

Host id if device attached to another machine.

You can then use the added file as for Report output, to either video browse or print it.
