Special Output Control Codes

Output Control codes can be assigned to any Display item or attribute in a Report frame.

You can define additional non-standard highlighting Output Control codes for your output devices, by entering them manually in the NGEN28SYS/CODES file. You can provide interfaces to unsupported highlighting features (for example, color on the AP1350 Terminal Printer), and set up completely different types of devices, such as graphics plotters and process control equipment.

The Output Control codes are signalled to ROC as embedded codes in the Report output, in suitable positions as required. These codes cause ROC to access the Control code information for the particular output device type from a working copy of the NGEN28SYS/CODES file. If located, the appropriate control code sequence is inserted into the final output to the printer.

Note: User-embedded Printer Control codes cannot be used in ROC standard Reports. This is to ensure that the Report output is printer model independent. If you want to use non-supported terminal features, you must define appropriate Output Control codes.
